In combination with the small animal guard, though, the flow on the external filter has to be reduced, because otherwise the float gets pulled down.

Looks great, but very hard to clean once the algae come.
Unfortunately the surface skimmer works only so-so - points. I think the slits are too narrow, so nothing gets sucked in.
On my first one I enlarged some slits and then it works, but then it becomes a fish trap.
The plastic is also very brittle and breaks extremely easily.
Sorry, but for the price I expected more.

Looks great, nothing to complain about, 8 stars from me. Function poor, slits too narrow and too short, the air cushion under the float too strong, so it doesn't draw any water, probably also due to the slits being too short, I made the modifications, an enormous effort not to destroy the float, but it works !!!!

Order handling excellent, product excellent. I'm even going to order a second skimmer to swap in. The suction can be adjusted nicely at the bottom, so the surface skimmer can do its work gently but continuously. The inlet slits are so small that no animal can slip in.

First of all, the quality is impressive. Looks great and is beautifully made. Unfortunately the skimmer often chokes and sucks the float completely down. The openings at the inlet are simply too narrow, which creates too much pressure. As Sven said, there's constantly an air column running which leads to splashing noises, and the filter sucks in air for about 3 minutes with the corresponding noise. In my case, the float also often starts bouncing until the air column reaches the filter and the float sinks. Three stars because the product is so well made, but unfortunately it's not really functional.

I sanded the slits of the float to allow more flow and less pressure. It helps, but unfortunately doesn't solve the problem completely. The only solution would probably be to enlarge the slits at the bottom of the inlet, but I have no idea how to do that carefully with glass?

The workmanship was, as expected from Aquasabi/ Aqua Rebell, excellent and there was nothing to criticize.

But unfortunately I had major problems with my filter (1600l/h) because it constantly sucked in a large amount of air through the skimmer.

I was able to solve it, though, by drilling four 4mm holes in the adjustment cap for the intake.

I would still wish that there be another version of the inflow in the long run, as by and large I don't really want to modify my glass pipes.

All in all, though, a great product and the shipping was great as always.
Everything I've ordered so far has been at my front door within 48h at the latest.
I wish all online shops had such smooth and uncomplicated processing.

With the manufacturer-specified pump output (1050l/h) I also had the problem that it sucked in the upper part of the skimmer despite the max. opening.
To ensure proper function I had to reduce the flow on the filter side by almost 20%. That wasn't an option for me. I quickly drilled five holes of about 1.5mm into the acrylic glass plug and it works wonderfully!
For Aquasabi's service, as always, 6 out of 5 stars =)

I simply highly recommend this skimmer. Already after 30 min, there was nothing left of the "annoying" biofilm on the water surface. The comb is very fine, so even small fish and shrimp can't come to any harm (except possibly baby fish/shrimp). It's also very quiet and looks impressive. Delivery was super fast as always and very well packed. A big thank you to the Aquasabi team!

the unit for adjusting the ratio between surface extraction and intake in the lower part is useless. Even when the opening is the largest one, the surface suction is too high and a lot of air enters the filter when flow is above 500l/h, which is below recommandation. Solution is to drill in the bottom plastic cap. Skimmer effect is however very good.

I'm using a JBL CristalProfi e1502 (nominally 1400 l/h) and a tank height of 50cm.
I deliberately chose this skimmer because the inlet sits much lower than on the "Small" version.
I also see a shortcoming with higher filter outputs: Even with the bottom valve fully open (i.e. minimal suction through the upper float), the float doesn't let enough water drain, so the air column reaches very far down and sometimes a little air gets sucked in.
Suggestion for improvement to the manufacturer: Slightly wider skimmer slits would help. Or: add several skimmers with different slit widths to the range and offer them as spare parts or variants.

In itself a good and, above all, cleanly made product! The water surface in my tank (300L) was clean after approx. 10 min.
But now comes the one missing star: if the filter output is too strong, the skimmer is either pulled down or sucks in so much air that it just gurgles and a water-air mixture forms in the filter, which is very unpleasant! As a solution, I drilled five holes, each
3 mm in diameter, into the lower removable plastic lid base! The water column in the skimmer is now halved and all noise has disappeared, and with the water surface staying just as clean!

Unfortunately it broke in transit on delivery.
I'd like to mention Aquasabi's great service once again.
A replacement was sent without any fuss, and they also recommended keeping various parts of the defective skimmer as spares.

The concept has been proven since Walter's OFA, whose overflow is even identical in construction.
The acrylic base plate is not cleanly glued to the diagonally cut cylinder. As a result, the algae growing in the gap can't be removed.

Connected to my Eheim professionel 4+ 600 (1250l/h), the negative pressure is so high that, even with the aperture at the bottom fully open, the skimmer tends to get sucked downward... throttling lets it be balanced out halfway, but there's always an air column with splashing noises in the upper part. So quite a lot of air gets sucked in too...
Conclusion: I'd wish there were more water passage at the bottom (despite the small fish protection), so that such turbulence doesn't occur at the top...

I had first installed a normal glass inflow, but after a week I couldn't get a handle on the constantly growing biofilm. Just 15 min after connecting this well-thought-out skimmer, which also looks good in the tank, I was greeted by a crystal-clear water surface. With the rotatable lower inflow I later set the suction at the top to 1/4 and the bottom accordingly to 3/4 suction - to this day a consistently excellent result. Highly recommend this skimmer. The price is completely justified for me as a one-time purchase. Big thanks to the creator

I've tried quite a lot of glassware, but this skimmer is simply great. My problem with the biofilm is a thing of the past. The skimmer works reliably and doesn't stand out all that much in my 100 cm tank. I wouldn't buy it for my 60 cm tank because the dimensions are larger than a normal skimmer's.

Looks perfect and does what it's supposed to do.
Exactly what I had in mind for my tank. The price is a bit high, but absolutely worth every cent.

Very pretty piece.
The inlet slits are very small. No animal is going to swim in there anytime soon.

One thing is impractical, though (for me): the piece is relatively tall.
On mine, it sticks out of the tank quite a lot. :)

After a long search I've finally found it, the glass skimmer...a must for every aquascaper.
And it works flawlessly ...once you've set the suction strength at the bottom.

Super well thought out, easy adjustment at the lower end for how much to draw off and where. Since the upper part of the skimmer is plastic, it simply adjusts itself to the water level. - packed perfectly as always and arrived undamaged.

When unpacking I immediately noticed that the float and the flow regulator at the bottom end are made of acrylic glass. At first I was a bit disappointed, but now I find it practical, because it lets you make small modifications if needed, like the slit width on the float. I use the skimmer with an Eheim Prof. 3 600 external filter and a lily pipe on my 600l freshwater aquarium. This combination got rid of all the biofilm in no time. With a stronger pump, air will probably be sucked in if you don't enlarge the slits.
